UTRGV scored four on nine hits. After their first inning run, the Vaqueros plated three more in the eighth inning to close out the scoring.

Quinn Waterhouse (2-1) got the victory in relief pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball on two hits. He was one of eight pitchers to take the mound for the Red and White. The Vaqueros also sent eight pitchers to the mound with all but two surrendering at least one hit on the night. Randy Garza took the loss after allowing three earned runs on two hits (with a walk) all coming in the third inning.

The Cardinals managed to tie the game in the third inning off the bat of Monray Van Der Walt who got the start at catcher. After Kirkland Banks led off the inning with a walk Van Der Walt took the first pitch he saw into the gap in right center scoring Banks. Bermudez's homer came two batters later.
