Demmerritte & Eelma Set Personal Bests at Trinity Last Chance

| By:
SAN ANTONIO. Texas - A small portion of Lamar University's track and field athletes travel down to San Antonio to compete in the Trinity University's Last Chance Invitational. This was an opportunity for them to improve their season bests in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.

Jacarrius Demmerritte would have a stellar day taking two top-two finishes. He began the day by setting a new personal best in the triple jump at 15.31m (50'2.75"), which made him a first place finisher by .92m over second place finisher Enoch Antwi of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Then, he placed tied for second in the long jump at 7.13m (23' 4.75").

Parl Eelma would also have two top-two finishes for the meet and set two new personal bests. Eelma's second place finish at 14.12 seconds in the 100m hurdles was the fastest amongst all collegiate athletes as she fell behind to a club athlete. Then, she claimed the long jump title with 6.04m (19' 9.75") just ahead of teammate Kayli Johnson, who finished second with 5.85m (19'2.5").

LU will find out who will compete in the NCAA Regionals, which will begin on March 24th in Sacramento, California.
