Austridge and Rodriguez Set Personal Bests at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - Lamar University's track and field team opened their Texas Relays participation as four of their athletes would run and compete in their respected events. Of the four, two runners would earn top 10 finishes.

Yasmin Austridge continued her personal best smashing streak as she ran third in the 1500m with a time of 4:19.48 breaking the previous mark of 4:22.72 from last year's Western Athletic Conference championship. meet. It also is the second best time in program history.

Chloe Rodriguez would make her debut in the 400m and finished ninth place out of 76 runners with a time of 1:00.57, which was only .16 tenths outside of the top five. This time was the third best in program history and ranks her 23rd in the NCAA West Region.

Two other competitors would complete their events as Nathaniel Mathura took 14th in the javelin (54.83m) while Jonathan Rivera ran 13th in the 3000m steeple (10:22.75). Nia Clatworthy started the 5000m event, but was unable to finish.

The Cardinals will continue their Texas Relays competition tomorrow with Cameron Chin, Cameron Chretien, Troy Dixon, Parl Eelma, Brianna Howard, Steven Jones, Kayli Johnson, Adebola Odunlami, Faith Outing, Sydne Porter, Jaylon Roberts, Kayla Smith, Kenson Tate, and Jakenzie Thymes partaking in their events.
