Snell Named Southland Hitter of the Week

| By:
FRISCO, Texas – Senior catcher Ryan Snell has been named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week announced league officials Monday morning. The honor comes after Snell led Lamar University to five wins, including victories over No. 5 Texas A&M, Kansas State and 2022 NCAA tournament participant New Mexico State.

Snell hit .333 for the week with three home runs, three doubles and five runs driven in, all while posting a .429 on-base percentage and slugging 1.000. The Hardin, Texas native was key in Big Red's upset of No. 5 Texas A&M. Trailing 2-0 against the Aggies, Snell hit a solo shot over the left field wall in the fourth inning to get the Cardinals on the scoreboard. In the seventh, Snell played long ball again, this time a three-run blast to give the Cardinals a three-run lead which would prove to be the difference in the game.

Against NMSU, the Cardinals were tied at 2 heading into the 9th inning when Snell got his third home run of the week. Snell's solo shot against the NMSU Aggies sparked a three-run rally as the Cardinals picked up their third win of the week and sixth of the season.

Snell currently lead the league in home runs (4), in fourth in the league in runs batted in (8) and fourth in doubles (3).

LU is 8-0 on the season and will look to put that win streak on the line Tuesday evening when they host Alcorn State. The game against the Braves will begin at 6 p.m. from Vincent-Beck Stadium.
