SEATTLE, Wash. - In spite of windy conditions in Seattle, Lamar University's track and field teams collected more points and three more medalists including a conference champion on the third and final day of the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet.
A second conference champion emerged from LU as
Yasmin Austridge claimed first in the 1500m posting a new personal best of 4:22.72. This was also the second fastest time in program history for the event.
Jaylon Roberts would medal in third place in the 400m dash final with 47.10 seconds, which was a new personal best for him. Also medaling was Sydney Porter, who posted a personal best of 23.81 seconds in the 200m. This was good for second place in the meet and all-time in LU program history.
Other personal bests were set on this day including
Nia Clatworthy (7th; 4:38.53) in the 1500m,
Kayli Johnson (8th; 14.22) in the 100m hurdles and
Chloe Rodriguez (4th; 1:00.83) in the women's 400m. Rodriguez would also key a third place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46.85.
Patrick Wolf tallied fifth in the triple jump with 13.91m. He also took sixth in the men's long jump leaping 7.01m. Along with his performance in the indoor WAC Championships, Wolf finished his freshman campaign by going 4-for-4 in scoring in both long jump and triple jump events in both seasons.
In the end, LU's men finished eighth place overall with 37 points while the women recorded seventh place with 71 points.
