BEAUMONT, Texas – It was a tough afternoon for the Lamar University women's tennis team falling to Northwestern State, 5-2 Friday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The loss drops LU to 5-6 on the year.
Despite the three-point margin of victory, the Cardinals had their opportunities to pick up the victory late after a tough start. After dropping the doubles point, the Red and White battled back to force three matches to a third set, but unfortunately came out on top in just one of those matches.

Ana Jolic recorded the equalizer when she bested Northwestern's Tjasa Klevisar is three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1, at the No. 2 position.
Unfortunately, that is where the rally came to an end for Big Red as Northwestern closed out the match with the final three courts, including come-from-behind wins on courts 1 and 3.
The Cardinals return to action Sunday when they host Nicholls. The match against the Colonels will begin at noon from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
