Cardinals Resume WAC Play Hosting Tarleton State

| By:

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University softball looks to continue its winning ways against conference foe Tarleton State this weekend at the LU Softball Complex. The WAC series will feature a doubleheader Friday with game one starting at 4 p.m. Saturday's game is set for noon.

Senior Kaylee Ancelot continues to have a strong presence at the plate. She leads the WAC in doubles and hit her fourth home run Tuesday. Ancelot is the first Cardinal to hit four home runs in a season since 2018 when Kelly Meeuwssen and Shelby Henderson hit eight each.

Senior pitcher Aaliyah Ruiz continues to climb up the LU softball (6-20, 1-8 in WAC play) all-time leaderboard. She currently sits in fourth place with 207 strikeouts. Laura Napoli holds the all-time record at 275.

Tarleton State (19-15, 4-5 in WAC play) got off to a promising 17-6 start, including a sweep of Sam Houston to open up conference play. The Texans have since struggled, dropping nine of their last 11.

First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. Friday with game two scheduled for 6 p.m. Both Friday games will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network.
