HAMMOND, La. – Lamar University traveled to Hammond, La., Saturday to take on former conference opponent, Southeastern Louisiana. The Cardinals recorded a 4-0 victory against the Lady Lions.
Big Red got out to a huge lead Saturday and never looked back. The Cardinals took matches on courts 1 and 2 doubles to take the opening point of the match. After grabbing the lead, the Cardinals put on more steam using the bottom third of their lineup to build an insurmountable advantage.
Sophomore
Jayci Wong made it a 2-0 lead when she defeated Southeastern Aidos Santos in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. The Cardinals closed out the match with consecutive wins on courts 5 and 3, respectively, for the overall win. Once the Cardinals took the deciding match, the remaining courts were halted.
The Cardinals return to action Monday when they return home to host McNeese at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The match against the Cowgirls will tip off at 2 p.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
