NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Unable to handle the defense of Stephen F. Austin, Lamar University managed just 40 points against the Ladyjacks, who put up a 57-40 win.
Sabria Dean was the only Cardinal to score in double figures as she finished with 10 for the game. Akasha Davis and Portia Adams both tallied eight points apiece. LU finished with a 30.4-percent effort from the field.
LU was held without a basket for half of the first quarter as the Ladyjacks went up 7-0 early on. LU did make a 7-1 surge behind four points from Dean, but SFA tallied four unanswered points to be up 12-7.
Angel Hastings converted a three that put LU down just four with 8:47 to go in the second quarter, but over the final eight minutes, SFA converted a 14-4 run that saw them up 28-14. The Cardinals recorded 20.0% from the field in that period.
In the third quarter, both teams were five-of-13 from the field. Emma Imevbore put up four points in the quarter. However, SFA's lead grew to 39-20 as they would lead 42-26 after three.
With 14 points in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals were able to get past 40 while holding SFA to under 60 points. Davis did put up six points in the quarter while Adams added four. LU would make 40.0% from the field marking their highest field goal percentage of any quarter in the game.
The Cardinals will host Abilene Christian at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday night at the Montagne Center.
