BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University released its baseball schedule for the upcoming 2023 season – a schedule highlighted by 27 home games, including 15 in non-conference play – announced head coach Will Davis Tuesday afternoon.

"Our schedule will be a perfect blend of testing our team, offering plenty of opportunities for our fans to see us in action, and will provide great experiences for our players," said Davis.

The 15 non-conference home dates include contests against Oakland (Feb. 17-19), Kansas State (Feb 22), Alcorn State (Feb. 28), Pennsylvania (Mar. 3-5), UC Riverside (Mar. 10-12), Texas Southern (Mar. 21), Rice (Mar. 28), Prairie View A&M (May 2) and UT Rio Grande Valley (May 16).

The Cardinals will kick off the season with the three-game homestand against Oakland – a series that kicks off a stretch that will see LU play four of their five in Beaumont. Following the opening weekend, the Cardinals will travel to College Station for a midweek at Texas A&M (Feb. 21), before returning home the following evening to host Kansas State.

LU will then make the short trip southwest of Houston to compete in the Sugar Land Tournament. The Cardinals' opponents for the three-day tournament (Feb. 24-26) have not yet been released.

The Cardinals will return from Sugar Land to open a stretch that will see them play six of their next seven games at home. LU will host Penn in a three-game series in the first weekend in March before traveling to Baton Rouge, La., for a midweek game at LSU (Mar. 8). LU returns home the following weekend to host UC Riverside in a three-game series.

The Red and White will be in Missouri for four games in five days when they take on Missouri (Mar. 15) followed by a three-game set at St. Louis (Mar. 17-19).

Big Red's final tune up before the start of Southland Conference play will be Tuesday, Mar. 21st against Texas Southern. The Cardinals will open league play three nights later against New Orleans (Mar. 24-26). The annual Battle of the Border rivalry series will be hosted by McNeese in early May (May 5-7).

The Cardinals will also play several non-conference games within the Lone Star State this season, including a home-and-home with Rice, at UT Arlington (April 4), at TCU (April 18), at Houston (April 25) and at Baylor (May 10).
