THIBODAUX, La. – Lamar University stepped on the court at Stopher Gym this afternoon looking for their second consecutive Southland Conference win but it wasn't to be as LU dropped a 3-0 (25-20, 28-26, 25-23) decision. The loss drops LU to 9-18 on the season and 3-13 in Southland Conference play.
The Cardinals outhit their hosts Saturday with a .255 attack percentage (Nicholls finished the day with a .250 effort) but the Colonels simply converted more opportunities. LU was 39-11-110 while the Colonels put down 50 of 116 attempts (21 errors).
Sophomore
Paige Dugan led the Cardinals with 15 kills (and a .333 attack percentage) but she was the only Cardinal in double figures. Playing without starting libero –
Giselle Santini – for the second-straight match
London Hatch and
Grace Luevanos stepped up on the defensive end of the court. Hatch recorded a team-high 15 digs while Luevanos added 11.
The Cardinals will look to get back in the win column Thursday when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Senior Night. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from McDonald Gym.
