HOUSTON, Texas – Lamar University closed out a three-match conference road swing Saturday afternoon at first-place Houston Christian, but the Cardinals struggled to find their rhythm against the league-leading Huskies falling by the score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17).
HCU came out of the gates on fire and LU never had an answer defensively. The Huskies hit better than .400 in all three sets ending the day with a 51-6-97 (.464) effort on the court.
While the Cardinals hit better than .350 in the final set, the first two sets were a struggle. LU finished the day recording a 32-14-101 (.178) performance, led by Paige Dugan's 10 kills. Junior
Giselle Santini ended the day with a match-high 11 digs.
The Cardinals (8-16/2-11 SLC) will have to quickly put the disappointment of Saturday's setback behind them as they return home for two beginning Tuesday against Nicholls. The match against the Colonels will begin at 6 p.m. from McDonald Gym.
