BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball program will go back on the road as they head down I-10 to Houston Baptist for a three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24
th and the series finale on Sunday, April 25
th.
The Cardinals are led at the plate by senior
Hannah Carpenter as she is hitting .347 on the year with four doubles, one triple and two home runs. Junior
Aleka Xayaseng follows Carpenter with a .233 batting average and 13 runs scored. In the circle,
Shelby Mixon leads the Cards with 39 strikeouts in 87.1 innings of work on the year.
Lamar and Houston Baptist were originally scheduled for a Friday-Saturday series, but due to impending inclement weather on Friday evening the series was pushed back a day. The doubleheader will now start on Saturday, April 24
th at 2 p.m. with game two set to begin at 4 p.m. (or 30 minutes after game one) and a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
