SOCCER CENTRAL: vs. Houston Baptist

BEAUMONT, Texas – Fresh off a 3-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Lamar University soccer program will turn their attention to the Houston Baptist Huskies on Sunday, February 28th at the LU Soccer Complex for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
 
Leading the Cards is redshirt senior Esther Okoronkwo who has tallied three goals and one assist on the hybrid year while senior Madison Ledet ranks second on the program in points with four (one goal and two assists). Sophomore keeper Nicole Panis has 20 saves on the season with a 0.96 goals allowed average.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cardinals tallied their first SLC win of the year as they defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at home on Friday, February 26th. Three Cardinals scored with all goals coming in the second half with Okoronkwo leading the night with one goal and one assist.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 11th meeting between the programs with Lamar holding a 4-3-3 advantage in the series. The last time the Cardinals and Huskies met came on October 27th, 2019 with the Cardinals taking a 3-1 win.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: Houston Baptist will come into Sunday's contest with a 0-4-1 record and are led by Ryan Ford who has two points on the season. In between the pipes for HBU is Karla Ramirez who has tallied 10 saves on the year.

UP NEXT: After hosting the Huskies, the Cardinals will travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Abilene Christian on Friday, March 5th with a 7 p.m. kick off time.
