The Bearkats evened things up in the top of the second. The scoring went into a halt until the bottom of the third when the Cardinals would retake the lead, 4-3, over the Bearkats on a
Audry Fleming single that brought home

Sam Houston retook the lead in the fourth on a fielding error by the Cardinal left fielde and went onto hold the 5-4 lead until the sixth where the Bearkat bats exploded for six runs on four hits to extend the led to 11-4 over the Cards. Sam Houston added an insurance run in the seventh, and the Cardinals tallied two runs in the bottom of the final frame, but it was not enough as Sam Houston came out with a 12-6 win over Lamar in Austin.
