SOCCER CENTRAL: vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's soccer program will get back on the pitch when they welcome Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to the LU Soccer Complex on Friday, February 26th with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. CT.

The Cardinals are led by redshirt senior Esther Okoronkwo who has tallied four points on two goals in the hybrid 2020 season. Senior Madison Ledet helps lead the Big Red offense with two assists, both coming against SE Louisiana.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cardinals opened up spring play at home versus Southeastern Louisiana, but fell in double overtime, 3-2, to the Lions. Okoronkwo and senior Sophia Manibo tallied the Cardinal goals while sophomore Nicole Panis recorded eight saves in the outing.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 10th meeting between the programs with Lamar holding a 6-3-0 series advantage over the Islanders. Last meeting between the programs saw the Cardinals capture their seventh straight win as they took down Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 2-0, on the road.

SCOUTING THE ISLANDERS: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will head to Beaumont for their first Southland Conference matchup of the year. The Islanders currently sit at 1-2-1 on the year and are led by Maggie Murray who has five points on the year with two goals and one assist. Kennedy Stelling leads the Islanders in between the pipes as she owns a 1.22 goals allowed average and has recorded 16 saves on the season.

UP NEXT: After hosting the Islanders, the Cardinals will turn their attention to Houston Baptist as they welcome the Huskies to the LU Soccer Complex on Sunday, February 28th for a 1:00 p.m. CT kickoff.
