LUBBOCK, Texas - Lamar University found themselves down 35-24 at halftime to Texas Tech University. All of a sudden, they were able to provide a second half comeback to grab the lead and were four seconds away from a win. But the Lady Raiders would force overtime and take the contest 72-68.

LU finished outshooting TTU 43.5%-40.3% from the field including 13 threes. They also outrebounded TTU 38-36 and had four blocks. Leading LU was Malay McQueen, who's five threes provided her with 18 points for the night to lead all scorers. Angel Hastings came off the bench and scored 13 while Anyssia Gibbs posted 11 points. Akasha Davis grabbed eight rebounds for the game.

The Cardinals had a rough first quarter only making two-of-15 field goals for 13.3%. Davis and NJ Weems would each connect on a basket while McQueen converted two free throws. Yet, the Lady Raiders, who started with a 9-2 surge, grabbed a 17-6 lead after one quarter behind 53.8% shooting.

LU did start the second quarter strong as they had a spark when Gibbs and Hope Lemelle combined for seven points on a 7-2 run. TTU would regain composure and storm out to a 11-0 run putting them up 31-13. McQueen then connected on a pair of threes that got a 9-2 run going. LU got to within nine at 33-24, but a late basket by TTU made it 35-24 at the break. Despite being behind, LU did outshoot TTU 53.8%-50.0% from the field.

Down thirteen following a made TTU basket, LU would respond with 11 straight points ignited by two straight three's from Gibbs while McQueen added another three of her own. Despite a basket by TTU to make it 39-35, the Cardinals refused to break as they turned to Hastings, who converted a pair of threes to tie the game at 41 while Gibbs gave LU their first lead moments later. Outshooting TTU 50%-23.1%, the Cards led 47-46.

Hastings continued her momentum adding five points as LU's lead stretched to 54-46. But, the Lady Raiders would turn the tides and get the game within two points. Sabria Dean made a clutch three while Weems added a layup to make it 59-55. TTU cut the deficit to 61-60 with ten seconds to play. McQueen would make one free throw, but the Lady Raiders knotted the score at 62 and the contest went into overtime.
