SOFTBALL CENTRAL: vs. UT-San Antonio

BEAUMONT, Texas- The Lamar University softball team will be looking to get back into the win column when they welcome UT-San Antonio to the LU Softball Complex for a midweek matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT).

The Cardinals saw the opening weekend of Southland play not in their favour as they fell to Stephen F. Austin in the series. Lamar will travel to Northwestern State next weekend to continue SLC play.

Need to Know

The Cardinals have not dropped a conference home-opener series since 2018 to Stephen F. Austin. The Ladyjacks captured games one and three in 2018.
Lamar is looking to get back on track in the contest against UTSA after falling to SFA at home to open conference play.
The Cardinals dropped their first home-opening conference series since 2018 to Stephen F. Austin. The Ladyjacks did it in similar fashion in 2020 to open up conference play.

UT-SAN ANTONIO

In her seventh season at the helm of the Roadrunners, Michelle Cheatham has turn around the Roadrunners program.
UTSA is coming into the midweek contest after opening their Conference-USA schedule with North Texas. They lost the series to the Mean Green, 1-2.
The Roadrunners finished the 2019 campaign with a 21-31 overall record while finishing 8-16 in conference play.
UTSA is led by Riley Grunberg at the plate who has a .380 batting average, connecting with the ball for 27 hits so far on the 2020 season.
In the circle, the Roadrunners are lead by Erika Cortez who owns a 4.53 ERA while picking up 46 strikeouts on the year. Cortez has picked up one save in her 47.2 innings pitched on the year.
