AUSTIN, Texas – The Cardinals went out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but it was not enough as Colorado State went on to take a 2-1 lead in the third and never looked back as Lamar dropped the contest, 4-1, to the Rams.
Lamar was able to use a hot start to jump out to a small lead over the Rams. Senior
Jade Lewis finished the day going 1-for-2 at the plate and drawing in the lone Cardinal run of the morning. Sophomore
Mackenzie Brown picked up the Cardinals' second hit of the morning. Brown finished the morning going 1-for-3 at the plate.
In the loss, the Cardinals left five runners on base, and only managed to get two hits off of the Rams' pitching corps.
Lewis nabbed her first start in the circle this year and allowed three runs on six hits before
Mackenzie Savage closed out the game in the circle. Savage tossed the final 3.0 innings and only allowed one run on three hits.
UP NEXT: The Cardinals will travel to Lafayette, La. to play No. 10 Louisiana on Tuesday evening. This marks the second Top 10 matchup for the Big Red in five days. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and can be seen on the Rajin Cajon Digital Network.
