BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University has announced several changes to tickets and parking at Provost Umphrey Stadium in anticipation of the 2019 football season. Tailgating in A-5 will now include a corporate tailgating village. LU is also offering cheaper parking rates for the 2019 season.
 
In addition to the tailgate area changes, White Section seating in Provost Umphrey Stadium has been converted to general admission.
 
The new tailgating village will offer a more fan-friendly environment in buildup to kick off. The tailgating village will offer food, drinks, live music, promotional giveaways and a chance to see the Cardinal coaches and players as they make the walk into the stadium prior to each game.
 
The cost for A-5 and A-2 have been drastically reduced for the upcoming season. The A-5 Tailgate lots are now just $250 – a 50-percent savings from last season. Single-game parking in A-5 Gold and A-2 has been reduced to $70 (from $125 last season). The A-2 lot is once again a paid parking lot but you will not be assigned a specific spot for the 2019 season. With the purchase of a season pass you may park in A-2 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
 
"We want to create a truly exciting experience on gamedays at Provost Umphrey Stadium," said LU Director of Athletics Marco Born. "We wanted to make gameday parking more cost effective for families coming to the game which is why we lowered the costs. The new tailgate village will create family friendly atmosphere."
 
Fans wishing to remain in the A-2 lot are allowed to do so, but the LU Ticket Office is currently working with fans on high priority spots for the 2019 season. In addition to those changes, LU has also converted the E-2, E-3 and E-5 lots into complimentary parking.
 
For fans who had seats in the White Section last season, those seats have been converted to general admission seating. White Section seats will be invoiced as general admission and only cost $45 for a season ticket. For fans wishing to move to reserved seating for the upcoming season, Green Section seats are available for only $90. "There was a great deal of interest from our fans about setting up some general admission seating behind the home bench moving forward," said Born. "Last season, all of our general admission seats were located behind the visitor's bench. We are always willing to explore new ideas to make our venues more fan friendly. We believe this is a positive change that is fan friendly and will help fill the stands on the home side."
 
The Cardinals will kick off the 2019 campaign Thursday, Aug. 29^th, when they host Bethel (Tenn.) University. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. from Provost Umphrey Stadium. It will be one of six home games for the Cardinals in 2019.
