BEAUMONT, Texas – Regular season play wrapped up on Saturday from the Montagne Center and the Lamar University men's and Women's basketball teams are heading to Southland Conference Tournament, which will be held in Katy, Texas at the Merrell Center. Tickets are on sale now.
Tournament books can be purchased for $60 or single-session tickets can be purchased $20 by calling the LU Ticket office at (409) 880-1715 or by stopping by the Montagne Center ticket office. The ticket office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Ticket sells can be bought until Tuesday, March 12 at the Montagne Center. Tickets can also be purchased at the Merrell Center during the tournament by going through the LU ticket booth.

The men's team enters the SLC as the fifth seed, the SLC announced on Saturday evening. The Cardinals (19-12) enter the postseason tournament riding a Southland best eight game win streak, and 10 of their last 11. The only setback during that time was an 11-point loss to Abilene Christian more than a month ago. The Red and White will open postseason play in the very first game of the tournament against eighth-seeded Houston Baptist. The game against the Huskies will tip off at 5 p.m. from the Merrell Center.
The women's team enters the SLC tournament as the No. 1 seed. Lamar has a double-bye and will not be in action until Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. from the Merrell Center. The Cards (24-5) enter the postseason after claiming back-to-back SLC regular season titles for the first time in school history. Lamar has won its last seven contests.
The men's tournament tips off Wednesday, March 13, and runs through Saturday, March 16. The first-round, second-round and semifinal game times are set for 5 and 7:30 p.m. The men's championship game is set for Saturday, March 16, at 8:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2. All other Southland Conference Men's Basketball Tournament games will be featured on ESPN+.
Women's first-round games will be played Thursday, March 14, through Sunday, March 17. First round, and second round games will be played at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Semifinal games are scheduled for Saturday, March 16, at 1 and 3:30 p.m. The women's championship game is Sunday, March 17, at 1 p.m. The championship contest will be televised on CBS Sports Network. All other Southland Conference Women's Basketball Tournament games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The winners of the tournaments will earn the Southland Conference's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA tournaments. The NCAA Men's Championship starts on March 19-20 with the first Four. The first-round games start on March 21-22. NCAA Women's Basketball Championship First-Round action starts on March 22-23.
