BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball hits the road for a Southland Conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 23 against Incarnate Word. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. from the McDermott Center in San Antonio.

Incarnate Word enters the contest with the Cards coming off a 66-56 loss to Stephen F. Austin. UIW has lost four straight. Its' lone win came at McNeese this season. Against the Lady Jacks, UIW shot 34.5 percent from the field and committed 14 turnovers. Kara Speer came off the bench and scored a team-high 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor.

UIW is led in scoring by Imani Robinson, who is averaging 9.4 points per game. Robinson is the lone player from the Cardinals roster to be named to the Preseason All-SLC contest. UIW has three players averaging 8.0 or more points per game. Starr Omozee leads the team in rebounding averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.

As a team, UIW is averaging 53.0 points per game this season and are shooting 30.9 percent from the floor. The Cardinals scored a season-high 68 points at McNeese on Jan. 2nd. Opponents are averaging 78.3 points per game and shooting 46.6 percent on the season.

The Cardinals were picked to finish 12th in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll.

LAST TIME OUT – SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
Miya Crump scored a career-high 31 points as Lamar University won its 37th straight game at the Montagne Center on Wednesday night. The Cards defeated the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana, 94-54.

With the win, LU improves to 12-4 on the season and 5-0 in Southland Conference action. The win is the Cardinals seventh straight. The loss drops SLU to 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in SLC play.

"Our kids came out strong and we played a complete 40 minutes of Lamar basketball tonight against a solid SLC opponent," remarked Head CoachÂ
Robin Harmony. "SLU was coming off a big win over Abilene Christian and our defense pressured them and did not give them open shots. We played the game we were looking to play."

For the first time since, Nov. 23rd, a Cardinal scored 30 or more points and hits six or more threes in the contest as Crump led the Cardinals with 31 points and was 6-for-7 shooting from behind the arc.Â
Jadyn Pimentel followed with 21 points.

Chastadie Barrs recorded a triple-double. Against the Lady Lions, she had 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for her ninth career triple-double, which extends the SLC career triple-double record.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Huntsville, Texas to face Sam Houston State. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
