HOUSTON, Texas – Lamar University junior
Bianca Vitale picked up a win at No. 2 singles, but the Cardinals struggled to find any other offense falling at Houston, 6-1, Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Cardinals to 0-2 on the season.

Amelie Vossgaetter defeated Mimi Kendall-Wasley and Nohiwh Ndunola, 6-4, on court one.
The Cougars added to their lead with wins at courts six and one respectively to take a commanding 3-0 lead. LU struggled to get things going in singles play dropping the first set in five of the six singles matches. The Cardinals' lone victory came from Vitale who edged out Kendall-Wasley, 7-5, in the opening set at No. 2 singles.
The second set was even closer, but Vitale managed to hang on in the tiebreaker. Vitale was dominant in the tiebreaker winning 7-1 in the extra frame.
The Cougars proved to be too strong on the other courts taking straight-set victories to close out the day. The Red and White return to action Saturday when they travel to Denton, Texas to take on North Texas. The match against the Mean Green will begin at noon.
