BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University looks to extend its home court winning streak to 33 games on Thursday, Dec. 20 when they host University of the Pacific in a non-conference action. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Thursday is Hoop for a Holla for a Dollar.

Pacific comes to Beaumont, Texas with a 6-2 record on the season. They are coming off a 64-57 loss to UCF on Monday night in Orlando, Fla. Against UCF, the Tigers shots 33 percent from the floor and were led in scoring by Jessica Blakeslee, who scored 17. The Tigers were 5-for-21 on three-pointers in the loss.

The Tigers have four players averaging double-digits points per game this season. Valerie Higgins leads the team averaging 16.8 points per game. Ameela Li (16.4 ppg), Brooklyn McDavid (14.3 ppg) and Jessica Blakeslee (10.4 ppg) round out the double-figure scorers. Not only does Higgins lead the team in scoring but also in rebounding as she averages 7.5 rebounds per game.

As a team, the Tigers are averaging 73.6 points per game this season. They scored a season high 91 points on Nov. 29 at San Jose State. Pacific is shooting 32 percent on three-pointers this season and are making six threes a game. They are outrebounding its opponents by 1.4 rebounds per game and are forcing 19.3 turnovers a game.

Pacific received 32 points and were picked to finish in seventh place in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll.

In front of 4,213 fans, Lamar University extended its home court winning streak to 32 games with a 93-37 victory over Howard Payne University on Education Day. The 32 straight wins is the second longest home court winning streak in the nation.

Chastadie Barrs recorded her fifth career triple-double in the victory. She led the Cardinals in points (20), rebounds (12), and steals (10).Â
Moe Kinard scored 13 points and collected 10 rebounds giving LU two players with a double-double for the first time since Jan. 31, 2018. Â

LU returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 2 when they host the Houston Baptist University. The Cards and Huskies tip at 7 p.m. The matchup against the Huskies will be the Southland Conference opener for both teams.
