BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University women's soccer coach
Steve Holeman announced Tuesday that forward Lucy Ashworth Clifford has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend LU on a soccer scholarship starting in the fall of 2017. She will have four years of eligibility for the Cardinals.
Ashworth Clifford, a native of Manchester, England, currently plays for the Manchester City Ladies, the defending English national champions. Prior to joining Manchester City, Ashworth Clifford played six seasons with Manchester United Academy. While with Manchester United, she helped the U-17 team squad reach the FA Cup finals vs. Arsenal. Ashworth Clifford played every minute that season for Manchester United.
"We are thrilled to add Lucy to this year's recruiting class," Holeman said. "She is a true winger with an exceptional left foot. Her ability to beat players off the dribble and provide service into the box is outstanding. She has a cannon for a shot, and will be a great addition to our front line."
Ashworth Clifford bring the number of recruits for the 2017 season to 10. She joins junior college transfers
