FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University's football game at Central Arkansas Saturday, Oct. 22, will be televised on ESPN3 announced Southland Conference officials Monday morning. The game is slated to kick off at 6 p.m. from Estes Stadium in Conway, Ark.
The game against the Bears would be one of eight the Cardinals have slated on ESPN3 this season. LU entered into a contract with the Worldwide Leader in Sports back in January to televise all Cardinals home football and men's and women's basketball games on ESPN3 – the network's online platform. The game at UCA would be Big Red's second away game televised on the network this season (vs. Houston).
The deal with ESPN3 allows LU fans the ability to watch Big Red online at ESPN3.com, on smartphone and tablets via the WatchESPN app or stream on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, AppleTV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox360 or Xbox One. ESPN3 is available in more than 99 million households at no additional cost to fans with an affiliated internet or video provider including Time Warner Cable, DirecTV and Dish Network.
The Cardinals are 1-3 (.250) in games broadcast on ESPN3 this season. The victory came in the team's last home game against Southeastern Louisiana, while the three setbacks all came to nationally ranked opponents, including two ranked in the top 10.
The Cardinals are coming off a 38-10 victory at Abilene Christian Saturday. Big Red has won its last two games behind a defense that is surrendering fewer than 14 points per game during that stretch. Against Southeastern Louisiana senior
Brendan Langley tied a school record with three interceptions to help hold the Lions to 14 points. Saturday in Abilene, the Cardinals jumped out to a 31-3 lead and never looked back. The Cardinals put together numerous time-consuming drives to keep ACU's defense on the field, while Big Red held the Wildcats to only 10 points offensively.
