Feb. 5, 2015ABILENE, Texas – JaMeisha Edwards scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Lamar Lady Cardinals to a 73-58 come-from-behind win over host Abilene Christian in a Southland Conference women's basketball game Thursday night.

Edwards had 22 points in the second half as Lamar (12-10 overall, 9-2 Southland) rallied from a 40-29 halftime deficit. Dominique Edwards had 14 points and 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season and 21st of her career as the Lady Cardinals maintained a one-game lead over Stephen F. Austin in the battle for first place in the conference.

“JaMeisha picked it up in the second half,” Lamar coach Robin Harmony said. “That was a big win for us.”

Lamar trailed 53-46 with 11:19 remaining in the second half before closing out the game on a 27-5 run to extend its winning streak to four games.

“Our defense was the key to our win,” Harmony said. “We got stops and we were able to turn them into points. We stepped up our intensity in the second half.”

Lamar's defense forced 21 turnovers, as the Lady Cardinals outscored Abilene Christian 22-8 in points off turnovers.

“We turned up our pressure, and they had trouble handling that,” Harmony said. “We took them out of their game.”

The Lady Cardinals shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from the field in the second half after shooting just 9-of-32 (28.1 percent) in the first half.

“We did a good job of holding onto the ball tonight,” Harmony said. We also shot the ball well in the second half.”

Lamar was perfect from the free-throw line for the second straight game, going 12-for-12 after going 15-of-15 against ACU in Saturday's win at the Montagne Center.

Addesha Collins added 11 points off the bench for Lamar.

Alexis Mason had 13 points to lead Abilene Christian (11-10, 3-7), while Suzzy Dimba had 10 points and 16 rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals return to action when they travel to Incarnate Word at 5 p.m. Saturday. That game will air live on KLVI (AM 560) and be shown on ESPN3. Lamar's next home game is 7 p.m. Feb. 12 against Houston Baptist in the annual Pink Out Game to raise awareness for breast-cancer research.
