BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar men's tennis team will host eight matches along the Southland Conference Tournament in 2015, announced head coach Scott Shankles on Monday.
The Cardinals open the season at Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 o'clock on Jan.17 before a match at LSU one day later at 9 o'clock that morning.
They return home for a 10 o'clock matchup against Seminole State at the Thompson Family Tennis Center, and then hit the road for a double-header at Prairie View A&M (10:00) and Rice (1:00).
After the double-header, the Cards return to the Thompson Family Center for five of the next six matches, including another two-match day against Alcorn State. First match starts at 10 o'clock followed by the finale at 2:00.
Also during the home stand, LU takes on Southern Miss (Feb. 27), Texas-Pan American (March 1) and Bryant (March 9). It travels to UTSA on Feb. 21, the only road match during that span.
Another double-header opens a five-game road swing on March 15, at Wofford (11:00) and South Carolina-Upstate (3:00). The Cardinals also travel to Presbyterian (March 16), Oral Roberts (March 21) and Texas-Arlington (March 22) during the road swing.
Southland Conference play opens on April 3 against Incarnate Word at the Thompson Family Center, and then the Cardinals travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (April 7), Abilene Christian (April 12) and Nicholls (April 17). The regular season finishes against New Orleans at home on April 19.
The Southland Conference Tournament will be held at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on and April 25 and 26.
