Volleyball tripped up by Nicholls

THIBODAUX, La. – Autumn Taylor had a match-high 19 kills, but the Lamar Lady Cardinals dropped a 3-1 decision to host Nicholls in a Southland Conference women’s volleyball match Saturday.

Taylor added 14 digs for the Lady Cardinals (1-14 overall, 1-2 Southland), who won the first set 26-24 before dropping the next three sets 25-22, 30-28, 25-22.

Cortney Moore had 14 kills for Lamar, while Erika Rojas had 17 digs and Ashley Ellis had 48 assists. Chelsea Grant had a team-high four block assists.

Kaci Kelton had 16 digs for Nicholls (6-11, 2-2). The Colonels had a .196 hitting percentage for the match, while Lamar hit .159.

Lamar opens a two-match homestand at 7 p.m. Thursday in McDonald Gym. Incarnate Word comes to Lamar at 1 p.m. Oct. 11.
