CONWAY, Ark. – The Lamar Lady Cardinals found out why the Central Arkansas Bears remain atop the Southland Conference women’s volleyball standings on Thursday night.

The Lady Cardinals were the latest victim of the Bears, who remained unbeaten in conference play as they swept to a 25-22, 25-18, 22- victory.

Autumn Taylor had a match-high 14 kills for Lamar (3-16 overall, 3-4 Southland), while Cortney Moore added 10 kills, but Lamar couldn’t overcome a .200 hitting percentage and 15 errors in a foiled upset bid.

Central Arkansas (13-7, 8-0) got 13 kills and 13 digs from heather Schnars, while Evie Singleton and Fulani Petties added 10 kills apiece in the win. The Bears had an attack percentage of .259 for the match.

Lamar looked poised to extend the match to at least four sets, tying the third set at 17 and trailing just 23-22 after a kill by Moore, but the Bears sealed the win with two consecutive kills by Alicia Dittrich.

Lamar wraps up its four-match road swing with a pair of contests next week. The Lady Cardinals are at Northwestern State on Oct. 23 and Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 25. The next home match for Lamar is 7 p.m. Oct. 30 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in McDonald Gym.
