Plumley's double-double leads Lamar

Dec. 19, 2010

BEAUMONT, Texas - Jenna Plumley's second double-double of the season led the Lamar University women's basketball team to a convincing 88-52 win over visiting Houston Baptist in a non-conference game at the Montagne Center on Sunday afternoon.

Plumley had 13 points and 10 assists for the Lady Cardinals (8-3), who ran their winning streak at the Montagne Center to 18 games. Lamar is 42-5 at home under fourth-year coach Larry Tidwell. Plumley has nine double-doubles as a Lady Cardinal.

Ang Green also had 13 points for Lamar, Taylor Hays and Monique Whittaker had 12 points apiece for LU, while Kalis Loyd finished with 11 points. In all, 11 Lamar players scored in the contest.

"We got another solid performance from our bench today, and that always helps," Tidwell said. "We've gone from not knowing how deep we were going to be early in the season to having a solid nine-to-10-player rotation."

Destini Texada had a double-double for Houston Baptist (2-9), finishing with a career-high 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Megan Green added nine points for the Huskies.

Lamar shot a season-best 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the field while holding the Huskies to 31.7 percent (20-of-63) from the floor.

Lamar is idle until hosting Wiley College, an NAIA school, at 7 p.m. Dec. 30.

"We're going into the holiday feeling pretty good about ourselves," Tidwell said.
