Box Score

CONWAY, Ark. - Lamar University put up a strong fight on Thursday night at the Prince Center, but it was not enough as Southland Conference leader Central Arkansas picked up a 3-0 volleyball victory over the visiting Lady Cardinals.

Despite the 3-0 score, each set was close with the Sugar Bears winning 25-23, 25-23 and 26-24. The loss dropped Lamar, which will play at Northwestern State on Saturday afternoon at 4, to 11-13 on the year and 7-6 in the SLC. UCA leads the SLC East Division with a 12-1 record.

Lamar hit a solid .235 for the match, but could not slow down the UCA offense which finished with 50 kills and a .300 team attack percentage. The Lady Cards did manage to finish with seven total blocks to the Sugar Bears' three.

Outside hitter Megan McStravick continued a solid freshman campaign as she led Lamar with 12 kills and eight digs. Bailey Smith and Angel Colyar combined for 23 digs in the match.

Lamar's middle blocking tandem of Jayme Bazile and Wendy Krell had an uncharacteristic off night. The duo combined for just 11 total kills and a dismal .107 attack percentage. Krell did lead LU with five block assists, however.

UCA got 16 kills from Jessica Hays and 15 from Chloe Smith in the win.
