NATCHITOCHES, La. - Lamar University goalkeeper Jennifer Gibbs made four saves to earn her career-high third shutout of the season as the Lady Cardinals battled to a 0-0 tie with Northwestern State in a Southland Conference women's soccer game Friday night.
Gibbs, a junior, has all six shutouts in the four-year history of the women's soccer program at Lamar.
Lamar (4-9-3 overall, 2-3-2 SLC) remained a half-game ahead of McNeese State in the battle for the sixth, and final, spot in the southland Conference Tournament. McNeese State (1-3-3 SLC) earned a 1-1 tie with Central Arkansas (1-3-2) on Friday. Lamar is at Central Arkansas at 1 p.m. Sunday before closing out the regular season by hosting McNeese State at 7 p.m. Friday.
Jessica Danku made nine saves for Northwestern State (6-10-1, 1-4-1).
Lisa Topping and Angie Guillory each had two shots on goal for Lamar.
