SAN MARCOS, Texas - Freshman Kalis Loyd scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Lamar University women's basketball team to an 82-59 victory over Texas State in a Southland Conference game Saturday.
Loyd also had a career-high six assists for the Lady Cardinals (15-4, 5-0), who are the only team with a perfect SLC record. Jenna Plumley had 14 points, while Darika Hill had 10 points and eight rebounds for Lamar. Jasmin Henderson contributed nine points off the bench for the Lady Cards. Loyd's 28 points were the most by a Lamar player this year.
"Kalis Loyd stepped up and did a great job today," Lamar coach Larry Tidwell said. "That was a great effort on her part."
Lamar committed just seven turnovers on the day, while forcing Texas State (4-12, 0-5) into 19 turnovers.
Victoria Davis led Texas State with 14 points. Kelsey Krupa added 13 points off the bench for the Bobcats.
