HAMMOND, La. - Southeastern Louisiana put together a pair of four-run innings to defeat Lamar 11-1 in the first game of a three-game Southland Conference series at Alumni Field Friday night.

Lamar (16-9, 5-5 SLC) managed five hits while Southeastern (16-8, 7-3 SLC) had nine extra-base hits which led to 10 RBI.

The Lions got on the board in the first inning when Brandon Street hit a solo home run to left center. It was just the seventh long ball surrendered by the Cardinals this season. SLU added two more in the second when Cody Gougler walked and scored on a Joe Sparacino double, before Justin Boudreaux doubled home Sparacino for a 3-0 lead.

Lamar mounted its best scoring threat two innings later. Steven Tucker singled to lead off the fourth and scored on Jeremiah Sammy's double to left center. Two batters later Andy Mena walked to load the bases but Ryan Boudreaux got V.J. Bunner to fly out and end the inning with the bases full.

SLU added four runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to end the game.

Ricky Testa (2-2) took the loss for Lamar after he allowed seven runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He also struck out seven batters.

Ryan Boudreaux (4-1) got the victory with a complete-game after he allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one in seven innings.

Tucker, Sammy, Bunner, Tyler Link and Ryan Saldivar each collected one hit apiece for Lamar. Brian Taylor was hitless and saw an end to his season-best 10-game hitting streak. Saldivar threw out the only player who attempted to steal a base, marking his third in the past two games.

The teams will continue their series on Saturday at 3 p.m.
