WACO, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball fell at No. 10 ranked Baylor University 83-36 on Monday night at the Ferrell Center.
The Lady Cardinals fall to 5-2 on the year with the loss, while Baylor improves to 8-1 with the win.
The Lady Cards struggled to find their offense in the first half, scoring just 10 points on 4-28 shooting. The 14.3 percent shooting effort was compounded by the Lady Bears dominance on the glass, as Baylor snagged 33 rebounds, 23 of which came on the defensive end of the floor. Lamar managed just one offensive board by Chrisan Petrovanie, while BU had 10.
In the second half the Lady Cardinals were able to get some offense going, scoring 26, but it was not enough as Baylor poured in 49 points. Lamar was led by Ang Green's nine second half points, as the freshman used a fearless approach on offense to get several open looks.
Green finished the game as LU's high scorer with 11 points, while Nikki Williams added nine points. Petrovanie had her most productive game of the season, scoring five points while leading the team with five rebounds.
Baylor was led by Danielle Wilson's 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Melissa Jones also posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Morghan Medlock gave the Lady Bears three players in double digit scoring, scoring 14.
The Lady Cardinals will now take 10 days off before hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m. on December 18 at the Montagne Center.
