Lady Cards Fall in Five to Central Michigan

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped a five game decision to the Central Michigan Chippewa's Saturday morning at the Brion's Grille/Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

The Lady Cardinals battled CMU to a fifth and deciding game, which the Chippewa's won 15-12, but not before Lamar rallied back from an early 7-3 deficit. LU fought back to tie the game at seven, before Central Michigan pulled away from a 12-12 tie to win game five 15-12. The Chippewa's took games one and three by the scores of 30-22 and 30-21, while Lamar won games two and four by the scores of 30-22 and 30-26.

The loss drops Lamar to 1-4 on the season.

The Lady Cardinals were led by Buchi Okoh's 17 kills, while Molli Abel chipped in with 10. Adrianne Meengs passed out 27 assists for Lamar, while Andrea Hamilton collected 12 digs.
