BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped both of their matches at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. on Friday, falling to New Mexico State 3-0 and UMKC 3-2.
In the first match of the day the Lady Cards were taken out 30-19, 30-18, 30-17 by the Aggies, who improved to 12-0 with the win. The loss dropped Lamar to 3-7 on the season.
Buchi Okoh led LU with six kills in the match, while setter Adrianne Meengs passed out 10 assists.
In the second match of the day, UMKC outlasted Lamar for a 3-2 win, 30-20, 14-30, 30-20, 28-30 and 15-7. The win was the first of the year for the Kangaroos, while the Lady Cards fell to 3-8.
Lauren Rush led the offensive attack for the Lady Cards against UMKC, knocking down 16 kills, while Meagan Adams and Lauren Holdorff added 10 kills apiece. Meengs passed out 47 assists for Lamar and Alex Brink collected 19 digs.
Lamar will be in action again Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. when they take on North Dakota State, and will conclude play in the Jackrabbit Invitational against South Dakota State at 7 p.m.
