Lamar University Athletics is excited to welcome Wesley Barnett to the Cardinal Ticket Sales team.
Barnett joins Lamar with a diverse background in sales, athletics, broadcasting, coaching, and education. A native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Barnett has worked in business development and commercial sales across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, giving him valuable experience in relationship-building, customer service, and community outreach.
Barnett’s background in sports runs deep. He was a football student-athlete at Nicholls State University from 2015–2018, where he made 47 consecutive starts and earned Special Teams MVP honors in 2018. He later served as a football intern at Nicholls State, working with special teams, defensive backs, kickers, punters, and long snappers. Barnett also spent several years in coaching, teaching, and sports broadcasting, including work as a sports radio host, play-by-play broadcaster, and sideline reporter.
With his combination of sales experience, sports knowledge, communication skills, and passion for athletics, Barnett will help Lamar Athletics continue to grow ticket sales, strengthen relationships with fans, and create new opportunities for Cardinal supporters to connect with Lamar athletic events. After spending time in the pest control industry, Barnett brings a steady approach to the ticket office — and it is safe to say, nothing bugs him.
