A two-year letterwinner for Lamar, Max Amling returns to the Golden Triangle as a graduate assistant coach. Amling was hired in August 2025.

A three-time all-conference selection, Amling was named SLC Player of the Year following his sophomore season. Amling helped guide Lamar to a Western Athletic Championship during the team's lone season in the WAC. For his career he racked up 56 total wins including 28 singles victories. A former conference player of the week selection, Amling also received First-Team All-Academic honors for his effort in the classroom.
