Linda Mungai started her position as graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach in May 2024. At Lamar University, she is responsible for all aspects of training for men’s and women’s cross country & women’s tennis, and assisting with football and baseball. She is working on completing her Master of Science in Kinesiology.
Prior to Lamar, Mungai was working as a strength and conditioning coach in a private facility in the north of Italy mainly with soccer and basketball players, and as a head strength and conditioning coach for an Italian semi-professional volleyball team.
Prior to that, Mungai was a strength and conditioning intern at Fitfam Sport & Conditioning, a private facility nearby Milan during the spring 2023, and she was coaching mainly collegiate tennis, soccer, basketball and volleyball players. Prior to Fitfam, Linda was an intern at Sanford Sport Performance in Bismarck, N.D., during the summer of 2022 where she was tasked in assisting in all aspects of training for high schoolers hockey, football, softball, swimming, volleyball, baseball, softball and basketball athletes. Mungai also spent the spring of 2022 volunteering as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at her alma mater Xavier University of Louisiana working mainly with men’s basketball, men’s tennis, baseball and softball.
Prior to moving to the United States, Mungai worked as an assistant strength coach for three different volleyball clubs, coaching middle school and high school athletes in the 2018-2020 time frame.
Mungai is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Mungai is a native of Milan, Italy, and received her Bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Milan in 2020, and a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience with double concentration in Biology and Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2022. While at XULA, she was a 2-year starter for the Gold Nuggets volleyball team. During her volleyball career at XULA, Mungai earned several individual awards, such as defender of the year and was a 2022 NAIA Honorable Mention All-America selection.
