John Cannon was named the recruiting coordinator under Sean Allen in July 2026.
Cannon comes to Beaumont after spending one season as an assistant coach at Houston Christian.
Prior that, he spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Wharton County Junior College, working with pitchers and catchers.
He helped develop a Region 14 Player of the Year (Ben Columbus), Region 14 Pitcher of the Year (Brian Panneton) and a JUCO All-American (Rome Shubert).
Cannon was the head coach at Faith West Academy in Katy before his time in Wharton.
He was a three-year starter at Houston, graduating in 2012 with a degree in sports administration.
Cannon, a native of Hutto, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and played in the minor leagues for six seasons, including four seasons as a catcher and two as a pitcher.
He made it as far as Triple-A in 2014 with the Albuquerque Isotopes.
