Garrison Van Houten began his position as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach in January 2024. At Lamar University, he is responsible for all aspects of training for softball & men's tennis and assisting football and track & field. He is working on completing his Master’s of Science in Nutrition with a Specialization in Sport Nutrition.Â
Van Houten was promoted from an intern role at Lamar University for the summer and fall of 2023. He spent the two semesters assisting men's & women's basketball, football, baseball, volleyball and softball.

Van Houten is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Raised in Port Neches, TX, Van Houten graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and was a Centerback for the Pirates soccer team. Post graduation, Van Houten continued playing USL2 and UPSL leagues around the Austin and Houston area.
