He spent two seasons in Charlotte before making the move to the junior college ranks coaching quarterbacks for nationally ranked Independence Community College. During that time, Kean oversaw all aspects of the quarterback position while playing a pivotal role in the installation of a new offense.

The Bulls finished ranked among the nation’s top 25 twice during his career. Kean completed his playing career at Charlotte as a graduate transfer where he also helped lead the 49ers to the program’s first bowl game.
