Originally from Plainfield, Ill., Ben Kouba joined the Lamar University Operations staff in January 2025. Kouba makes the trek to Beaumont after spending the previous five years in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where he served in several different capacities.
Originally hired to by the Redhawks baseball team as a manager in 2020, Kouba oversaw all analytic data for the program. He also took on the role of a strategic communications intern the following year. By 2023, Kouba accepted a position as a graduate assistant through event operations and facility management. A position he held for the next two years, Kouba oversaw the setup, execution and post-event cleanup for sporting events. He also recruited and supervised event staff, as well as oversaw the behind-the-scenes logistics effort for all athletic events.
During his time in the dugout, Kouba played a key role in the team's run to back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances.
A former high school standout on the baseball diamond, Kouba received his bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri in May 2023 and graduated two years later with a Master's of Business Administration degree (May 2025).
