Alex Shillow joined Lamar University as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development in December 2025. He came to Beaumont, after spending the previous 15 months as the associate athletics director at the University of the Incarnate Word.

Over the course of the past five years Shillow has worked in collegiate athletics with stops at Texas A&M-Commerce (now East Texas A&M), Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), North Texas and UIW, most recently in San Antonio where he secured $375,000 in capital support within a short period of time toward facility enhancements. He also spearheaded a fundraising campaign that totaled $1 million for athletic projects.

Shillow was also placed in charge of UIW's Tartan Society – the primary giving group for the athletics department. During his time in San Antonio, Shillow increased membership by more than 150 percent.

Prior to his move to UIW, he spent six months in Denton serving as the assistant AD for development at North Texas. During his brief time with the Mean Green, Shillow served as the major gift officer who managed a portfolio of 100 prospects and donors and successfully initiated a new fund structure which increased scholarship funding by 150 percent.

Shillow began his career at his alma mater, where he began as a development assistant before moving to Birmingham, Ala., as the UAB Assistant Director of Development before being promoted to the associate director.
A four-year letterman for the Texas A&M-Commerce (now East Texas A&M) football team, Shillow played in 47 games recording more than 200 tackles (including six for losses) with five interceptions and 17 pass breakups. A multiple All-Lone Star Conference selection, Shillow was also named LSC Academic Player of the Year and a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Shillow, is married to the former Emily Otto, who was a standout athlete at Texas A&M-Commerce.
