Erika Schnaas is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Lamar University women’s tennis team. Schnaas comes to Beaumont after spending one season as an assistant coach at Baruch College in New York City.

In 2014, Schnaas served as the tennis coach at West Rock Tennis Academy as well as the Riverdale Tennis Center in New York. She joined the coaching ranks after one year of working at her alma mater – Indiana University of Pennsylvania – in the office of International Education.

A native of Mexico City, Schnaas gradudated from IUP following a standout playing career with the Crimson Hawks. A two-time all-conference selection in doubles, Schnaas advanced to the NCAA Division II round of 16 in her final three seasons. She left IUP ranked fourth all-time in wins, after recording a team-high 22 victories as a freshman.

Schnaas was just as successful in the classroom as she was on the court. A five-time Dean’s List selection, Schnaas was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete in each of her final three seasons, and was a three-time recipient of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award.

She received her bachelor’s degree from IUP in May 2014.
