Jacob Economou started his position of Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach in July of 2020. At Lamar, Economou is responsible for all aspects of training for Soccer, Men’s Golf, and Women’s Golf as well as assisting with the training of Football, Baseball, and Track and Field. He is working to complete his Masters of Science in Nutrition degree.
Prior to his time at Lamar, Economou spent the Spring of 2020 with the University of Wisconsin Football Strength & Conditioning staff as an intern. At Wisconsin he assisted with all aspects of training and weight room operations. During his time at Wisconsin he was briefly taught Catapult operations and assisted with training athletes for the Pro Day hosted at the University of Wisconsin.
Furthermore, Economou spent the Summer of 2019 with Mississippi State University Football Strength & Conditioning staff as an intern. At Mississippi State he assisted with all aspects of training and weight room operations as well as hosting summer camps for potential recruits.
Economou started his career at Slippery Rock University in 2017 as a volunteer intern for football and Men’s & Women’s Basketball. During his time at SRU he developed training programs and assisted with any and all weight room operations. Both an SRU colleague and himself conducted and carried out a research study that involved Strength and Conditioning for local firefighters and was presented at the NSCA National Conference.
Before his experience in Strength & Conditioning he was a defensive tackle for Slippery Rock Football from 2015 to 2017.
He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and CPR/AED certified.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, Physical Activity and Fitness Management, at Slippery Rock University while minoring in Coaching.
