Hannah Smith has been hired as an assistant coach announced Lamar University head coach
Steve Holeman on April 6, 2021. Smith comes to Beaumont following stops at Georgia Southern and most recently Iowa Western Community College.

Steve Holeman. "We were very thorough in our search and know that we found the right person for the job. She comes highly recommended, and it was easy to see during the interview process. Her division one experience both as a player and a head coach will be an invaluable addition to our staff. She has the experience, the personality, and the work ethic to make a positive impact on our program."
Smith was most recently on staff at Iowa Western Community College before accepting the position in Beaumont. Prior to Iowa Western, Smith was a graduate assistant at Georgia Southern where she started in June of 2019. She is also an alumnus of Georgia Southern as she played her final two collegiate years at the university. In the fall of 2020, Smith was named the interim head coach of the Eagles where she guided the program for the entire season.
Prior to her coaching career, Smith had a stellar playing career as an Eagle where she tallied 20 starts and started in each game her senior season at center back for the Eagles. Before her playing time at GSU, Smith was a standout midfielder at Iowa Western Community College where she led them to an appearance in the NJCAA National Championship. In her sophomore season, she helped the program to consistently stay in the Top 5 of the NSCAA Top 25 polls. She was also named to an all-conference selection as well as being named a NSCAA Second Team All-American.
Hannah undergraduate at Georgia Southern in 2018 and is currently working towards her master's degree in Sports Management at Georgia Southern.
