Will McFarland was hired to the Lamar University Athletics Media Relations staff in December of 2019 and has served as the primary contact for women’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, and soccer.
McFarland came to Lamar after completing his bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Tennessee. He served as an undergraduate Media Relations Intern in the offices of the UT Athletics Media Relations staff for three years. He served as the student assistant contact for baseball and volleyball while at Tennessee.
Will comes to LU after a three-year stint as a Media Relations Intern in the University of Tennessee Media Relations department in Knoxville, Tenn. He served in several roles in the Volunteer athletic department, including secondary coverage of baseball and volleyball. He has also contributed work at the 2019 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Prior to his work in Knoxville, McFarland attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky. and was the first signee for the Asbury Men’s Lacrosse program. During his time at Asbury, he learned volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball work in the Media Relations department.
McFarland received his Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Tennessee in 2019, majoring in journalism and electronic media.
